Vision therapy is based on the concept of neuroplasticity. Through therapy, new and more efficient connections can be created in the brain. Using coaching and exercises we teach the brain a better way to use the visual system. Vision therapy sessions are done one on one with a trained vision therapist under the supervision of an optometrist. This means we tailor each course of therapy uniquely to you, the patient. Having that specialized coaching from our team is a key factor in your success.
If you wish to have your case reviewed by our team please contact us using the Contact us form on this website telling us the age of the patient and any details you feel relevant.
We request that you fill a detailed form which we will use to determine what length and type of assessment you will require and whether Vision Therapy/Neuro-Optometric rehab is suited to your case.
A staff member will provide you with a link to the appropriate form via email once you have contacted us.
Myopia (or near-sightedness) occurs when the eye grows too long and focuses images in front of the retina, instead of on it. This results in blurry distance vision.
The prevelance of Myopia in children has increased from 24% to over 40% in recent decades and data indicates that this increase may be linked to changes in childrens habits resulting in less time spent outside and more time in front of digital devices.
Rapid increases in Myopia can increase the risk of eye problems like retinal detachments and macular disease and as such Optometrists are starting to more agressivly manage rapid changes in Myopia in children.
Using specialized diagnostic testing we evaluate candidacy for different treatment options. Children wearing glasses or Contact Lenses may benefit from a myopia control consultation.
